If you have any questions regarding taking an assessment then please do not hesitate to give us a call.  We have listed below some questiones which we are regularly asked to try and assist you.

 

What level of service can I expect from GCPTC?

As part of our committment to customer service, we have a Customer Service Policy which is available for all candidates as part of the assessment process.  Please ask the centre for a copy.

 

How do I book an assessment?

Please call GCPTC directly to book your assessment.  When calling please ensure that you have a site and potential dates in mind for your assessment so that we can ensure your needs are met.  If you haven't got a site arranged for your assessment then we can arrange this for you.

 

How long will it take for my Certificate to arrive?

City and Guilds are committed to despatching certificates within 25 days of a full assessment result being issued.  If you have not received your certificate please contact GCPTC and we will investigate this for you. 

 

Who should I contact if I have lost my Certificate?

City and Guilds should be contacted directly if you have lost your Certificate.  Their website contains all the necessary procedures and forms you need to request a new Certificate.  Charges are applicable for replacement certificates.

How do I know what the pre-requisites are for an assessment?

All City and Guilds assessment schedules contain the relevant details to be able to undertake an assessment including any pre-requisites, health & safety information and PPE.  You are also responsible for providing the equipment that is used during the assessment.

 

How old do I need to be to take an assessment?

To undertake any of the assessments you need to be 16 years or older.

 

When is chainsaw refresher training required?

The refresher training is recommended by the Health & Safety Executive and is every three years for occasional users and every five years for frequent users.  More information can be found on the Health and Safety Executive website.

 

Can I still claim the assessments taken using my blue book?

All certification for the blue book ended on 1st October 2005.  If you have assessments completed in your blue book which you have not claimed you will have to re-take these assessments.

 

What should I do if I have a complaint or wish to appeal against a result?

This is a very rare occurence, but if you do have a complaint or wish to make an appeal against a decision please contact GCPTC who will be happy to send you the relevant policies, procedures and forms that you need.
